What do you tube experts say - would it be worth the effort to build? Any design flaws?

I'm afraid that the Noguchi output transformer PMF-8P-10K is not available in europe. What would be a suitable replacement?

The current source used has, in my experience at least, very uneven impedance depending on frequency. One can bridge rectify the 6V winding, ground the positive side of that supply, then you end up with a negative rail which allows for a higher performance CCS.

Power is so low that the choice of output transformer is quite open.
