Hello

Just a quick question fellow forum members ... is it ok to use a 6V sec ac instead of a 6.3 sec transformer for the heaters (EL34)

Its just that most of the transformers (high current) are 6v .. the 0.3v drop would make no difference ??

regards

Yes, in theory, that will be fine. Generally, you need to stay within +-10% of the nominal 6.3V. However, how do you know that you actually have 6VAC? Mains voltages are almost never standard, and load on the transformer will tend to cause the heater voltage to sag. So you probably won't know for sure without taking measurements under load.
