just wondering if anyone out there knows of or would suggest any diy unity-gain tube-buffered preamp designs.

i don't need a preamp with any gain to it, and in fact would rather not have any gain to it in an effort to keep things simple. i currently use a solid state buffered "passive" pre, and would like to exeriment with a tube buffered pre.

any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

A tube pre with no gain is more difficult than it appears. Tubes generally sound at their best at max gain and any attempt to reduce it involves NFB and corresponding sound quality losses.

Of course this is only important if you aim high enough. A cathode follower is probably the simplest solution and it might not sound too bad with a current source.
It certainly won't beat an amp with a sensibly distributed gain structure. Or the TX102 Tom suggests.
