Note that it is exceedingly unlikely that you are getting much more than 9 or 10W out of that amplifier with a single EL34.

With a 6 ohm speaker, the 4 ohm tap if present is probably the better choice.

All of your proposed changes are not going to address the fact that you simply don't have enough amplifier power for these speakers.
