I don't know the input sensitivity. But I do know that there is not a lot of gain in that amp. You'll probably need a preamplifier.

Or a better choice of tube than a ECC99....

Hi,

That's Patrick's from PTSoundlabs amp.
At least the 2A3 is driven properly.
I quite like that design and given CD as source it should be just fine.

@TS: if you'd like me to translate some of the text on that page regarding the amp, I'll gladly be of service.

Cheers,

Yes,almost the same. The cathode resistor of the ECC99 is changed from 220Ω to 330Ω.
Not much difference, same (allmost) gain.Looks like the 220Ω gives some more linear result. But that's not always better, can be that the less linear solution better cancels those of the 2A3.

Hi,

@Ketje. Yes, my thoughts exactly. Still, keep in mind that he puts the ECC99 in parallel if I'm not mistaken.

There's also an integrated version I noticed at the bottom of that page. Too bad the diagram isn't posted.

Also note that the guy insist on using the OPTs made by ESO in France. I have no idea how good these are but they seem to work fine with that design.

Cheers,

Hi,

Upon further searching the integrated version uses an extra ECC99 wired as an SRPP stage using a quite massive 380VDC B+.

ptsoundlab

Seems he really likes this ECC99 and I can't say I blame him.

Cheers,
