Hi
What kind of caps are best for RIAA network? I need caps for tube based circuits. This means that caps must be 400 to 630V.

Hi,
Usually metallised polystyrenes or silvered micas are used. Cheers,

Polyproplyne is good too.. probably the the best easily available type, since it seems polystyrene is going extinct.
You want close tolerances, at least 5%, if not 2% or better. If you're a pervert for perfection, try to match left and right channel values to as good as you can with a cap meter. (i.e. buy several and use the close pair) This may improve image reproduction. Digikey has some 2% polyprop caps, though they may not be up to the tube level voltage rating you're looking for. Probably they do in the 5% range. Mouser is another parts supplier that has tons of parts and probably a few suitable choices. Happy hunting! |
