Any tube amp to drive B&W 802D?

I have heard them powered adequately by one of the Mcintosh push-pull KT88 amps. So, perhaps with a fairly high-wattage push-pull amp or a really powerful SET. OTL using 6AS7 or 6C33C might also be an option. But, like the poster above mentioned, they are not exactly the most tube-friendly speakers.

The spec. sheet tells the tale. The impedance curve requires the speakers be connected to 4 ohm taps. The claimed sensitivity has to be derated to 87 dB.

A H/K Cit. 2 refurbished ala Jim McShane or a pair of Heath W6Ms in good repair will do the job.

Want to DIY? Follow the Heath W6M's footsteps; Williamson topology and Class "AB2" KT88 O/P tubes. While fundamentally sound, the W6M definitely can be improved.
