Default motorola ecl82 3 channel amp?

Hello,

My first post here, I just recently purchased a 3 channel Motorola tube amp it has 4 12 ax7 ,1 el84,1 ez81 and 2 ecl82. I plan on using it as a stand alone amp. and at the same time get rid of the bass channel and just use the two existing channel. My question is did anybody did this mod before and or if anyone has the schematic for it. Thanks and good day.

Cheeh

That console amp is CHEAP. The O/P trafos of the stereo HF sections are too small to handle full range reproduction. IIRC, other manufacturers took the same "bottom feeding" route too.

In order to end up with 2X "full range" stereo channels, new O/P "iron" has to be purchased. I suspect, at the end of the day, you will get to reuse the power transformer and, perhaps, the sheet metal.

Please upload photos of the chassis, focusing on identifying numbers. Those numbers may allow member Tom Bavis to provide the schematic, from his extensive collection.

BTW, you are going to need high efficiency speakers. SE 6BM8/ECL82s yield approx. 2 WPC and SE 6BQ5/EL84s yield about 5 WPC.

Eli is absolutely correct..This amp is a biamp amp for a stereo pair with the 6BQ5 feeding the woofer and the 12ax7s feeding the mids and highs.
