I tried a simple CSS again with a few different tubes and a few different operating points. This is completely right. Thanks for clearing up some unwanted clutter in my brain.

BTW, my test lashups look so horrible, I'm tempted to post a picture of one.

Go on, I dare you. Mine are pretty nasty too.

Glad we agree on theory vs practise.
The loudspeaker: The only commercial Hi-Fi item where a disproportionate part of the budget isn't spent on the box. And the one where it would make a difference...
