Default Noob question

Hi folks,
I have been educating myself about how amplifiers work and electronics in general. I would like to learn enough to build an amp. I would really like to build an SE tube amp. However, I have an old pair of Acoustat electrostatic speakers and an LS 3/5a clone kit. Maybe some day I will tackle a kit for more efficient speakers.
My question is this - would it be possible to build a SE triode amp as a driver stage for some sort of solid state output stage and get the best of both worlds? Any direction would be appreciated. Thanks,

Hybrid amps are not uncommon, although not quite in the configuration you mention. It wouldn't be uncommon to drive a SS power amp with a tube preamp.

Google Pete Millett hybrid.

You often see valve pre-amplifiers to give a "valve sound" to a sand, sorry solid state amplifier.
Many on E-bay and Chinese sites.
Judge quality with your ears not instruments or simulators
