Default power transformer voltage change

Good day, I have an amp Matchless Independence is originally from USA and works with 110V. As I understand electronica. I take it apart to look at the power transformer and see if a connection is available for 220v primary winding.
I did not find what I expected but analyzing what I see draw some conclusions I would like you to correct me.

above is the schematic of the transformer. I think that if I connect the coils in series then would have the same but with a primary transformer 220v.
like the image below

My only fear is what happens to the current? I think it will be fine because the voltage needed to bend half amperage.

If I test my idea without charge and a lamp series with the transformer is safe for the transformer this test? there is no risk of burning it?

thanks
Alejo

Yes you have the right of it, put the primary coils in series, primary current halves but secondary stays the same.
