Default 50.000 $ for a 30W amplifier .

Dear friends ,

I have a dilema and I hope to help me with your ideas .

I saw an amplifier ( tube ) Onkagu with a price around 50.000$.

My questions are :

1. It is a fair price and real value , covered by performance or is just a simple another over-priced valve amplifier ?

2. Why is so expensive , becouse the components are cheap ( no more 3000 $ ) ?

3. How much would be the cost for a very good 30W valve amplifier to have same performance with an so expensive amp.

The brand is not important and Onkagu was mentioned as just an example .

It's a general question .

Thank you !

Sounds good, $50. Although I don't know why you have it marked to tenths of a cent...

It must have been used because they are a lot more money when new.
Kondo san is the creator of the Audio Note amps.
These amps are the highest of audio art.
Kondo starts with raw silver and pulls it into wire himself to wind the transformers. The caps are his handmade silver ones.
His Gaku-on, a 50 watt integrated amp retailed for $168,000.00 about twenty years ago.
People who are lucky enough to own them seldom sell them.

In Europe we write: 50.000,00
In USA this is: 50,000.00

Both means plain 50000.

The correct way to write 50000 in SI is 50 000. I don't know which part of Europe you are from but we don't write the way you do in England!

Default the answer is so obvious..

that we really not need to answer it, right?
This would be the answer that Kondo, Onkuga and or Sakura would give you.

I have an idea... let's clone their most popular product and call it KondoKlone , we spend less than $200 on it, put it on Ebay and laugh ourselves to death just like our san's .....
