max G2 voltage 1624 tube (Tabor)

I see that Gary Pimm exceeds the maximum voltage of the screengrid (300 volt) of the 1624 tubes with about 75 volts in his Tabor amp. I am sure he knows what he is doing.
Wouldn't it be better to use a regulated G2 supply in this case (and what voltage is optimal in this case) or am I missing something ?
