Those are the tube types that plug & play in my VTA ST-120 amp.

I added a Behringer electronic crossover and the crossover has made it a little too bright and possibly a tinge harsh on the highs.

Is there a tube you can recommend for the driver stage that will make the amp sound as if the Behringer active crossover was not there. I love the way it sounds without the active crossover but i need the active crossover for my configuration.

Something to counter act the brightness and harshness of that active x-over

thanks,
Eddie

Have you look inside the Behringer? Instead of messing with the VTA ST-120, just put another EQ in the chain to shape the frequency response, or as Kevin suggested get a better, transparent XO.

My thought too, that the Behr would have a tweeter channel EQ internally to tweak... Maybe it got +12db by accident with all the menus and digital wicky wacky...

Or just do what I did- pull out the output stage and replace it with passive RC. Problem solved for about $5 in parts and an hour of soldering.

$5 in parts and one hour sounds very tempting...but I'm not sure what you're suggesting. What is a "passive RC"...and what exactly is pulled out when you say pull out the output stage.

When i think of pulling out the output stage i imagine pulling out the 4 KT-88 valves and the two output transformers that the KT-88's feed. hmmm

SY, I would very much like to do that. Is it something you can explain here in this forum or by email or is it too complicated to teach me?

I would not know how to identify the output stage if I open the chassis. And I don't know what a passive RC is.
thanks,
Eddie
