I have a good wife, she knows what my stuff is worth and what I paid for it. She teases me about it fairly regularly but since I live within a hobby budget she helped define I'm not too worried..

My wife has no idea that I'm building what will be my first tube amp, or that it will cost around 1K by the time I can switch it on. On the face of it, I agree it's a bit nuts.

... and my wife came back home the other day and noticed my SE 3.5-watter had been gone. Than asked a question: "Where is the amp?!" "I gave it to my friend" - I answered.
"Sooo... Kids are at my Mom's, you are out of office. Finish the one you have been working for weeks until Jan, 6th! Go!"

My beloved wife

Always told my wife that all of my diyaudio things are much cheaper than her wallet, not even a compare to her bag. As long as she believes it, no worry. But when she starts having doubts and asking items that coming from postman, get her a new wallet, bag, or shoes

I simply have an agreed upon monthly allowance, any money I make by doing a repair or from selling a now disused bit of kit goes right back into the hifi pot to be spent on other projects.

Heard a comic on "Blue Collar Comedy" (Sirius 97) say that his biggest fear was that he'd come home some day and find that his wife sold his guns. It happened!
