Filmosound 179 - Should I even bother?

I have read the various posts on this amp and it seems like it is a tricky one to work on. I am very new to all of this. Should I put this one aside for a minute and come back to it? What is the deal with having no power trans? can i simply re-wire the preamp section and leave the rest and get it working? any other thoughts in relation to this amp would be welcomed.

What is the deal with having no power trans?

Risk of electrocution. That is why all discussion of such equipment is banned here.

Someone with experience can work reasonably safely on this sort of equipment with an isolating transformer. Best for newbies to keep well away.
