Default tube tester comparison

Please can anybody tell me, if you know, which type of these two tube testers
(TV-7/U and TV-10D/U) is better (more usual and functional for mesure and matching amplifier tubes like 12**7 ,6CA7,6L6...) ?

Both are trans-conductance meters and just cant match a tube.

If you want to match tubes, get 2 high voltage supplies (anode,G2) another 2 supplies for bias and fillaments. make a nice box whit current and voltage meters. and say 10 of the most common sockets. choose the connections whit banana jumper cables and your all set.

Check out Ale's web site. About a quarter way down this page he shows how to test transconductance with a current source bypassed with a capacitor, and a sense resistor (THD, GM, u tester).

If you make just a DC tester, I would suggest that you use a very stable power supply for the negative grid voltage. As grid voltage error is amplified by quite a lot.

The best thing would be a LM399 referenced supply for the bias whit a 3 stage kelvin varley divider to set the output voltage.

you could then add A balancing network to make the meter read 0. Then you make the grid 0.1V more positive and voila, you have the trans conductance
