Am interested in Ralph Powers PP 6B4G amp, but the 5842 tube seems rare and expensive. Is there a good substitute for this?

Pete -
As long as you're not looking for Western Electric parts, the 5842 is easy enough to locate, $8-10 each. http://www.the-planet.org - Gary |

Pete -
Electron Tube Enterprises (Dick Bergeron) has them for $8, Antique Electronic Supply has them for $10 and change. Links for both are on my website in the Links section. http://www.the-planet.org - Gary |

Guys, I don't know how concerned you are about microphonics, but over the years I have used them the Ratheon were the least microphonic. Some of the others, including WE were horrible.

I was not aware of that, but this would bring me back to my original question: is there a good substitute for this tube? Pete |
