Dear Friends,

I use to work on Valve Amps quite a long time ago, but I am out of touch now, A friend brought a vintage Phillips FX737A radiogram which is totally dead and asked me to fix it. I checked and found that both the power and output transformers are OK but both the rectifier EZ80 tubes and the filter capacitor(50uf + 50uf, 400V) have shorted. These tubes and capacitor are totally obsolete locally, even though they are scarcely available on the net. I need some advice from you all on how I can replace these tubes with diodes, and which diodes to use. Can I replace this capacitor with 2 metal film capacitors of the same rating. Pls advice.

Thanks

Carlos
