Default Gyrator in Tail of LTP

Anyone have any thoughts on the wisdom of using a gyrator of some sort as the tail of a long tailed pair? The idea being that it is a high impedance set voltage that allows arbitrary current to pass, thus allowing the use of CCS plate loads. Additionally, if it could be designed to only drop minimal voltage, it would eliminate the need of a negative rail. But will it work?

Why not a gyrator as load and a CCS tail? I simulated a pair like this before with very nice results, at least on the simulation...will it work? Haven't tried it yet but can't see why not...

Interesting approach you suggest, worth trying it at least in Ltspice?
