I am probably asking a really simple question. I have built several PP amps but was given the guts of a SE amp that I thought I'd use to build a guitar amp. Simple enough until I go to hook up the OPT. 0 5k 7k are the primaries and my schematic calls for two hookups. B+/power tube grid on one and the plate as the other.
The power tube is a 6AR5 so I think I need the 7 ohm but from there I'm lost. I searched the forum several different ways but could not find any answers. |

You haven't actually asked a question.
If the OPT has a tapped primary for 5k and 7k matching and you want to use the 7k option then simply use the primary connections which have the highest resistance between them. If your circuit uses negative feedback from the OPT secondary then you will also need to get the phasing right, but regard that as a separate issue after you have got the amp working without feedback. |

I think you have answered my question. My circuit does not use feedback so I use the 0 and 7k taps and it doesn't matter which one is hooked up to the plate and which one is hooked up to the grid?
Here is the schematic and thanks for your help. http://schems.com/manu/ricktone/RickTone17.pdf |

6aq5... I think you might want to use the 5k tap and ignore the 7k tap.
The 6aq5 is very similar to the 6V6 |
