AC heaters question

I would like to know which pin have I to connect the 0V and wich one for the 6.3V, I ask because I need to know for tube rectifiers AZ1, 6AX4GT, etc.? or isn't necessary specific pin?

Hi Felipe,

With rectifiers, connect between heater-winding and heater in either way (there is no polarity).

If the rectifier is directly-heated (5U4, 5R4GY etc) the rectifier filament-winding (transformer secondary) must not be shared with other heaters. And this winding must have strong insulation from other secondary windings on the same transformer.

Thanks Rod, I supposed VAC can't need polarity, but as good newbie I wanna be sure, at this moment only want to use AZ1 & 6AX4GT, both aren't directly-heated right?

Keep in mind that even a significant number of indirectly heated rectifiers have an internal connection between the heater and the cathode, as in the GZ34/5AR4.

In this case, Rod's answer also applies to indirectly heated rectifiers.

Felipe, AZ1 is directly heated. Please use separate winding!

Please have a look at the following Link to the Radiomuseum, because of the AZ1 is not only direct heated, but needs also the old filament-voltage of 4V.
