6BG6-GA
Any practical experience running the "standard" 6BG6-GA at 450V in triode or ultralinear for SE operation at 5K?
Looks to be about -22.5V cathode bias at 40mA. Looks OK to me. Just looking for someone who has done this. Thanks, Scott |
:eek: too high ! look at the 807 data sheet !;)

I did look at the Brimar 807 data sheet. It shows 600V max for the anode. The 6BG6-GA shows 700V max. The plate voltage in my scenario would be about 425V. Although the screen is shown as 350V max for the 6GB6, there is no definitive info regarding the max voltage with the screen tied to the plate or run as ultra-linear. The reason for my question.

Yes, i know ...the 807 was never intended to go ultralinear ... i' d avoid... go 450Va and regulated 300Vg2 ;)

I looked at my stash of 6BG6-GA. It appears as though the ones I have are the large plates. The only thing is they have the side getters. But other than that, they have the large gray plates as shown in the attachment.

Yes, the grey one is "modern" , beefier, than the "old" black genuine ! ;) no problem, these will last a lot more than the chinese 6L6-KT66-6550-KT88 sold nowadays ....
