Default Transformer Question

I have a couple of 370 volt transformers and need 300volts for the circuit. Can I load these 370v's down to 300v's, and how?

resistors and/or regulators.

2 0D3's with a pass tube or transistor on top would probably be the best.

370VAC? Choke input, maybe with tube rectifier.

Most of the time though...the tube will probably do fine with a little voltage more...depends on the design as well...if it is already near the limits...

All of the above will work in lots of different configurations. But how about downloading PSUD2 from www.duncanamps.com and model it for yourself? The characteristics of the components in the PSU, eg a choke's DCR will affect the final voltage along with the current draw.

Thanks for the tips guys. I actually have psud version 1 but wasn't having much luck with it. I will try out version 2. As far as regulation is concerned the cure must be significantly less than the 58 dollars for a new transformer so loading it down will be a better choice for me.

Yeah..if you passed us the circuit...maybe we could determine that you don't even have to drop the voltage at all~!!!

370V rectified is going to go upwards to 400-450VDC dependeng on how you rectify it and dropping voltage down to 300 is quite a stretch. You would probably be better off by reevaluating your circuit and either making allowances for higher voltage or getting a different transformer.

it might drop a bit if you use a tube rectifier...
