How it sounds will depend on the transformers and circuit topology much more than the valve.
With some feedback and good quality transformers it will sound quite reasonable, but possibly a little coloured (some like this colouration).
At this budget end, there is a big jump in performance when you go to push-pull.

The transformers have a 20Hz to 45KHz bandwidth.
No feedback, but they have this "full kathode feedback" to take care of speaker imperfections.
I'm a little confused!
What type of coloring is that you mention? 2nd type harmonics?
I really want something that would give a good listenning pleasure at bedroom levels.
So, you think that 250€ is a bit for a SE design?

Hi Petman, the PCL86 is a very good audio tube. If you need a schematic i can upload a very nice one (works very well from 120 to 250 Volts)
