how much clearance above tubes for KT88 enclosure
Hi guys, looking to make a wood enclosure/cover to go over my KT88 amp - top would be slatted with wire mesh to let the heat dissipate. Wondering how much room above the tubes I will safe with - 2"? Thanks for any thoughts.

Many commercial tube amps used perf metal that is 1-2" above the tubes. The metal can still get hot and/or cause the paint to discolor over time.
It's really a question of how much temp rise you can stand on the metal... _-_-bear

Distance from tube to tube in the horizontal plane is defined as One and a half 'envelope widths'(1 1/2). If the tubes are of different sizes, take the smallest example times 1.5 .
