I am Looking for tubes
I am sorry if this is an obvious question, but what are considered good production tubes on the market today. I have not bought tubes in a while.
I just picked up two dynaco Mark III mono block amplifiers and a pas 2 preamp. I just went through them and it looks like I will need 3, 12Ax7s and 2, 6AN8. I will eventually need 6550 Power tubes, a couple of them where a little on the week side but still passed. They are good quality USA tubes so I will keep them for now. Anyway I am looking for good quality tubes if there still such a thing. Thanks |

I've had good experience with the Sovtek and JJ brands of tubes. Especially the JJ's are excellent bang for the buck.

6an8 not too costly the 12ax7 are all over the map from 10 dollars to 100s of dollars for some of them . 5751 can be ok . RCA black plates is my call on american 12ax7s . The tubestore top of the page is good start.

If you like taking risks try Shuguang big Triodes for some adrenalin.
