Anyone try swapping 6SN7 w/ 6F8G

Hi everyone,

I just stumbled across on ebay tube adapters to run 6F8G in a 6SN7 slot. This lead me do some research and I have found people saying that they are indeed interchange (except for the top electrode cap).

Has anyone tried a before and after with these tubes. To my understanding the 6F8G is an older 6SN7 version?

Apart from a small change in Ca-g, electrically 6F8G is identical to early 6SN7, or 2 x 6J5 so I would expect no difference in performance.

I see that some sellers on e-pay expect lots of money for these now. Thank goodness there are still a *few* more 6SN7 substitutes at resonable prices out there.
