Addinging windings to an Antek AS-... transformer

Folks,

With the new line of shielded transformers, Antek is making it a bit harder to add your own windings as the new transformers have a shield on the outside of the secondary. However, according to the "documentation" on Antek's website, it looks like the outer shield is actually a belly band and not an electrostatic shield. The shield is supposed to be between the primary and secondary windings.

Has anybody tried to remove the outer band/shield and adding windings to an Antek AS-series of transformers?

I've added windings the older style AN-series Antek transformers and that works well. I'd like to do the same to an AS-series.
