Japanese Valves

I am shortly to visit Japan and wonder what the best makes of audio valves I should look for. I want EF86s, EL84s and EZ80s. These are for two Mullard 3+3 amplifiers.

I understand very good Mullard like valves were produced in Japan but how could I identify them?

but Im afraid tubes especially might be a tough bargain in Japan, and expencive

but maybe some nice transformers made in Japan

I have quite a number of 6FQ7 made my Mitsubishi. Whlie their inherent distortion is not quite as low as some 6CG7 types, they are remarkably consistent - a testament I guess to the Japanese QA of those days.

I have used EL84s and 6267 (EF86) labeled NEC and they sound very similar to the Philips/Mullards for most purposes. Unless you have the very best iron, I doubt you could pick the difference.
