Hi,

Hmm... rectifiers sound the same...
Under controlled listening tests and keeping all else constant...they do sound different.

You'd hear differences just as you'd hear the difference between a TFK tube and a GE one, for instance.

Since there are electrical differences why wouldn't there be sonic differences?

Cheers,

Hi,

Quote:
The only one I remotely liked was the RFT .
Surprise, surprise...
My former company shipped 14.000+ of those to the U.K back in 1996...

Surely the tubedealing guys "have to" like those?

The best sounding ECC82/12AU7A ones to my ears were the 5814s IMHO.

And even those don't come close to even the most low cost 6SN7.

Cheers,

Hi,

Just you know how many ECC82s could eventually land in your junk box ...

Same goes for the ECC81s really, don't like those either...I know, I know, I'm a very demanding SOB.

Z729 anyone? A2900?

Cheers,

It was E92CC's that made my junk box bulge ! I nearly found a use for them driving an E1T CRT counter but lost interest in the end but thank goodness they're all gone now !
