There's a tube tester on the shopgoodwill auction site. Might work, might not.

There is a VERY good manual on a industrial tester used by TELEFUNKEN maybye build something yourself ?

Roehren-Messplatz RMP 400 von Neuberger

frankly if your testing alot . you will need a good parametrical tester . a funke W20 or a neuremberger will set you back 1K+ WHILST variacs and a load of digital panel meters will go a long way

have a good one

The tube tester cost is USD $2,675 + $411 shipping and insurance cost to China. Total = USD $3,086, I can not afford.

So, I can try to use second-hand goods

building something yourself is rather time consuming but its worth the effort .

im halfway whit the unit im building .

you should be able to make something at a good cost .

what tubes are you going to be testing ?

have a good one .

edit look at the sussex valve tester for a basic unit wich will set you back around 250 US

there is also somone who made a VERY good tube tester
he used transformers controlled by variacs for the anode supply and for the heather supply .

a big potentiometer for the second grid VG2 supply and a potentiometer for the VG1 supply .

he used digital panel meters witch are cheap from china to monitor all the voltages and currents .

take a look at http://www.vintage-radio.net/forum/s...ad.php?t=69201

hope this helps

how many is "I need to test many china tubes"? do you need to test for remaining life or for matching. If you need to match tubes that takes different or additional equipment. I use a transconductance tester to test for remaining life and a bias probe with meter for matching. I have an 8 pin probe for octal tubes, a 9 pin for el84's and a modified 9 pin with two cables for grading both sides of 12*7 tridoes. Find a tester with easy calibration proceedures. my total costs for the tester and bias probe was 300 bucks. I have about 100 12*7 tubes and 300 power tubes I'm sorting thru. the amperix is nice and I would not mind having one as a gift, but 3 grand can buy a lot of new tubes.
