So I'm building this push-pull amp and trying to make in interesting, so I'm thinking of an Aikido driver section, but with the input tube being a BDT (a 6AR8). So the idea is that the BDT is the phase splitter, so is shared between two aikido stages (one for push, one for pull).
It does end up using a few tubes (4 per channel) in the design but I do have the space.. and I'll probably have to triode-strap the BDT to make it work as it's a bit pentodish... It will be driving some GU50 pentodes BTW. Haven't decided the feedback regime yet.
So I have some questions:
1) Could anyone suggest a companion tube for the BDT in the Aikido input - I have spare 6N2P, 6N23P, 6N1P to use, and ECC88 of course?
2) Is the output voltage swing as good as that of the SRPP?
All ideas and comments welcome!
