Hello,
after research for a good phono output and line input tube of a preamp there seem some serious people prefer the 6CG7 (noval version of 6SN7) instead of 12AU7 tube because of the better chart curve linearity. I wonder how is this tube behaves in regard of noise and microphonics compared to high quality 12AU7? Is it really a superior version in all kind of aspects or are there any bad news, especially when it is used in the phono stage? The old 6SN7 really sound good but often suffered from microphonics and hum problems, so are the newer versions free of all those negatives? Thanks, Uwe |
