hi,
Have been thinking about making an adapter so I could try 807's in my Wurlitzer 6420 mono block amps. So here is what I came up with. I would appreciate your suggestions and comments. octal side/base to 5 pin socket pin 1 NC pin 2 to pin 1 on 5 pin socket pin 3 drill hole in octal base near pin 3 of octal socket to run to plate cap pin 4 to pin 2 pin 5 to pin 3 pin 6 nc pin 7 to pin 5 pin 8 to pin 4 |

Should work out pretty good--Just watch those top-caps!
6L6 and 807 are basically the same valve, just the 807 version was made for RF duty so they shoved the plate to a top-cap....

Except pin3: if go from 6L6 to 807 I would use the feature, when anode is far from filament (pin2).

Maybe put an anode stopper near the cap, and take the anode lead as far from other pins as possible.
Perhaps try and shield the grid interconnect, and/or include a grid stopper in the adaptor. |
