What is a KT88-98?

And i wish to ask if anybody now what is a KT88-98 valve ?

Yes, that's a current KT88-98. Earlier versions (up to about 3 years ago) had triple getters and much better quality. I ended up dropping them due to quality issues.

That pair I picked up in Canada almost 3 yrs ago for a really good price thinking to some day try a DHT amp. I think the seller had just brought them back from China.

I wonder how good these tubes would be?

I figured so! I read George of tubelab.com had good luck with those than defective low $ Russian 300B's that were discontinued right after he bought them. His Shuguang's might have been earlier versions than mine.

I have had good results with the EH brand. As a matter of fact, the current EH 6922 models the Russian 6N23P-EV.

I think the defective ones were Sovtek and they quit selling 300B's after the problems. EH might have replaced them which don't seem to have any problems.

Cool. As it stands right now I'm pretty much sold on the EH brand. I have had no problems to date. Sure, they may have a lower price point than the "esoteric" brands, but I have not measured any compromise in performance.
