Lightbulb The Radio Hat Challenge

Build a portable tube amplifier into a hat, helmet, Jason Voorhees mask or whatever.

Can either be based on the original "Man from Mars Radio Hat" as seen in the example below OR amplifier for iPod etc.
Be creative, completely freestyle contest, as long as it's portable and tubed.

Winner will be chosen by fellow members of diyAudio and will receive 20 x .1 Quality Film Coupling Capacitors AND 2 NOS SYLVANIA 6CG8 Tubes. Made in Germany.
Free shipping World Wide
(Tubes were verified on a B&K 700 last year. I am not able to match them because somebody has been taking sockets out of the tester for other projects. Worst case scenario I can send a 3rd tube if you pay the postage.)

Open to present and future members of diyAudio.
-Contest will be closed on December 31st 2011 at 11:59PM est.
-Winner announced New Years Day 2012
-Winner may be asked to prove function and portability via YouTube, Skype etc OR emailed video clip.
-Post your entries and progress here.
-PM your votes by December 31st, 2011.

Hopefully this will spawn into a new regeneration of an open-sourced portable tube amp.

Or 3 - 9V alkaline. Although they are generally only 90-110mA-Hr.

I did a TV version in the 70s so I could listen to the news on TV while mowing the lawn, but it was sand based.

As I said your not limited to the "radio hat", you can build a tube amp for an iPod, with NO RADIO, of whatever voltage you like.

I MADE A TYPO ON THE TUBES, Sorry, I always do that, they are 6GH8 x 2 I can't edit the first post anymore. Great for replacing 7199 tubes in Dynaco/kit ST70's etc.

Contest is now closed.

Not one entry, lol.

I had a really good contest planned for this month with even better prizes, but I don't think I'll bother now.

Happy New Year.

Well the contest was 3 weeks during the busiest holiday time of the year. I wouldn't be surprised if no one had time. If you do another contest, you might want to give it more time.

Make the date 12/31/2012 I might compete. Still numb from 50 hours on a Greyhound bus last two weeks. I've got nuvistors in the attic- secret WWII "radio fuse" technology. Let's see, a tube SMPS for the B+? or a self booting thermal vibrator? Are Neon bulbs legal?
