Default linestage w/separate PSU: where to "split" ?

I’m building Eli Duttman’s 12B4 linestage with the PSU on a separate chassis. It’s a pseudo dual mono cLCLC design with separate final LC sections for each channel. Where should I “split” the two chasses? Should I put both the final chokes and capacitors on the “signal” chassis or just the final caps? I’ve read that the final psu caps should be placed on the signal chassis, but I’ve seen a number of two-chassis preamps that don’t.

You will need a cap on the line stage chassis anyway. However, you don't want too much ripple current in the 'ground' connection between them. As you have a multi-stage smoother this should not be a problem. It doesn't matter where the second choke goes, so do whatever is convenient.

Splitting in the audio chassis would save one conductor in the umbilical, but does place a potential source on the audio chassis for magnetic coupling with low level circuitry, and can couple to audio output chokes if used.
