Hi, this is my K12G amp. The case is made from a WW2 artillery shell box. I have been upgrading it recently. Mods include New coupling caps, removed blocking caps, filament snubbers, hv snubber and uf diode. I've got some hammond 1609 transformers that I would like to install now, but I am having trouble with the primary side.
The original output has a B+ and two other wires, the hammond has a B+ and four, here is some info Hammond Mfg. - "Classic" Push-Pull - Tube Output Transformers - (1608 - 1620, 1645 & 1650 Series) http://diyaudioprojects.com/Gallery/...ge.php?pid=368 Last edited by cameronjp303; 12th November 2011 at 08:57 PM. |

The blue/yellow and the brown/yellow are not used in your case. Tape the end of these wires and tie them out of the way

Those extra wires Bruce mentioned to tape up/ insulate are for UL (Ultralinear) use if you choose to use that mode later on.

Yes, you are correct. You could convert your amp to ultralinear later if you want to compair the two modes.

UL can help with woofer low end bass control. Probably worth a try down the road as many like it. Probably depends on the speakers used for how you like it.
