Default Winding an ISO TX with pair of inductors

So here's the rub...I'm trying to get a 220-220 Isolation transformer for my project...& I'm trying to use what I have. I DO have a pair of inductors for my defunct sub-woofer.....a pair of 10mH coils @100W...They are rather giant size & I can picture myself un-winding them & rewind the pair to build an ISo transformer. Has anyone attempted this before?? Is the value of the coils way unsuitable? Thoughts?

Buy urself a transformer.

You can not couple many WATTs of power via two aircoil inductors.
Not even with iron core inductors... they won't couple.

The wire may be usable for rewinding, but why bother?
You can make an iso transformer by using TWO *identical* transformers of almost any type but of suitable VA rating as long as they both have 220v primaries AND identical secondaries. You just wire the secondary windings together, plug the primary into the wall on one end, and on the other end, you have another 220v winding, isolated.

It's probably easier and cheaper to just buy a proper iso transformer... but there are often "don't want" transformers knocking about, especially from "recyclers" and scrap dealers. A good source for something like this today are the transformers from broken UPS computer supplies - remember you need TWO identical ones.

Winding mains transformers is best left to people who really know what they are doing. I would not attempt it myself; I know enough to know my limitations.
