I junked a lot of tubes when germanium transistors became cheaper, just because they were a lot bigger and needed heating power for the same function (= amplifying signals) Good old Tungsram ECC88s, EL84s, VR105s, PL519s, ceramic sockets, also bulky PIO and mica capacitors, and a lot more

Well ,in my case, i kept all the tubes i had ! and still have them for fucture projects ! Valvo ECC88 , some Mullards , lots of Philips , Edicrons.......
