I have an old 80's Peavey Butcher I picked up real cheap. I like the tone of the amp a lot after cleaning and retubing it. But I really want to modify it for some more gain.
I had a Peavey Windsor that i did a slew of mods I found online and I have electronics knowledge I am just not very good at knowing the gain staging of preamps. I know alot of yall will know much better how to get more gain from this amp than I would be able to figure out. Here is a schematic for it. Any ideas on extra gain and getting a little more mid range and losing some fizziness would be greatly appreciated. |

I checked out the schematic and it is "almost" part for part a two input master volume Marshall JCM800. I would think there are many more mods for the Marshall than the Peavey so maybe try searching in that direction.

Or run an OD pedal in front of it.
