Stromberg Carlson ASR 433

Just got done replacing all the electrolytics and diodes. What a great sounding little amp inspite of having .01 ceramic disc coupling caps. Has anyone replaced these caps? What cap did you use? Any impressions on the magnetic phono stage?

Ceramic caps are not very good, you are better to use mica, film or paper caps ... With a higher working voltage than the DC supply of course ... The best ones are "paper in oil" but they are expensive.

I put in some polystyrene caps in place of the .01 ceramic caps= nice improvement. I'm thinking of adding Dave Gillespie's EFB mod. Anyone done this?
