The question I have is rather general, how do all of you design your amps using the plate curves from the datasheet for pentode output stages?
The reason I ask is that there is usually only one graph, and for a pentode, the screen is at some fixed voltage. As you all know, the curves will 'squish' down as the screen voltage drops. So, for my 12AB5 output stage, the IV curves have the screen set at 250V. My power supply is 160V, so my screen voltage will be slightly less than that. How do I draw my load line and calculate grid bias, Q point, etc.? Or, do you use the data to approximate, then build, test and modify the circuit? |
