Default 5V Indrect Heated Rectifiers?

I like the idea of the slower start of indrect heating. The 5AR4 is the main stream tube like this. Are there others that are suitable for class A Hi-Fi applications? Regardless of plate current rating.

5Z4 is another one, but a number of designers have used damper tubes in pairs. They have the advantage of high current and high peak voltage.

The 6087/5Y3WGTB and the 6106 are 5Y3 variants with cathode sleeves.

Hi!

That's correct the 5AR4 has an indirectly heated cathode. It is often confused with the directly heated variant since the cathode is internally connected to the heater at one side. Sometimes this is referred to as 'half indirect'. But technically speaking the cathode is indirectly heated.

Best regards

Thomas
