Question First watt F2/little dot MK III

Need some advice long time reader of diyAudio but never posted till now.so here goes i have been offered a first watt F2 amp once in a lifetime offer only a hundred ever made by the audio god himself Nelson Pass.My question is would my little dot MK III preamp with an output voltage of 10 volts RMS be a good match for the F2 with a 100K ohm input impedance. i,m not a technically schooled audiophille but do love quality audio and would hate to marry these together to discover that i have toasted the F2 with to higher input signal any help on this is appreciated.

It works impedance-wise. A CD will not need any preamp at all, just add a volume pot between player and F2. Sensitivity should be in the ballpark of +3dBU(~1,5V). Remember F2 is odd, not all speakers like a damping factor of almost -2 rel. 8ohms. Will maybe work with some Lowthers though.

Thanks for the nice comment, but my wife insist that I am no-one special, and should be treated accordingly. I had to read this to her, of course. She remains firm.

With regards to the Das Vietch horns w/Fostex drivers. I cannot find anything on these horns, but read Nelsons paper on integrating current source amps with various drivers, and you will have a good start. A little experimentation will be required to get proper bass response, but you should be well rewarded.

I do not know if your F2 was upgraded to the F2J, but if not it is well worth it. With the J-Fet, this is a real sweet amplifier that is one of my personal favorites.

"Behind every great man stands a great women" mmm Who just doesn't get me i guess.

Sorry sent you a typo should have read "Das Viech (The Animal)
Beyma 8AG/N horn or "the Viech"

Very happy with these at the moment But do have on the table currently Olson-Style Manifold Horns (Sachiko) on hold at the moment due to hard to source A grade 19mm marine ply. There monsters all right but so is the pre-occupation with Horns

And no the F2 is not modified yet but was told that nelson pass still modifys them, will contact him in the future in regards to the mod.I Do know that there are two f2 amps here in New Zealand One has being upgraded to Jfets and the one on offer is still stock. I did read nelsons paper on current source amps and from what little i understood thought it was a good start as well But needed to confirm this with people in the Know (You) There i go again Hope your hat still fits after it your head swells with praise Ha Ha,

Many Thanks
"Kia Kaha"
