Default Distance between 6N23P and a cap?

A typical n0ob question...
Caps are supposed to be cool and tubes tend to get hot.
I have a couple of MKP10 caps (2.2uF) that I need to mount as close as possible to a 6N23P tube on a circuit board.

How close is a safe distance? I'll be running the tube @ 100V (10mA each channel). 6.3VAC heating for starters maybe I'll change to DC later on but I'll settle for AC for the moment and just get the experiment up and running.

I'm doing it cirquit board style for simplicity, I have all the tools set up for making my own boards and it makes assembly a piece of cake.

Well, since a 6N23P is not a power tube, and an MKP capacitor is not an electrolytic type, tempture should not be too much of an issue. Electrolytic caps don't like heat because the electrolyte paste inside dries out with heat. Not so with polypropylene types. So assuming your circuit board will be mounted horizontally (with tubes vertical) things can be pretty close. If it's tall (as I think it may be) I'd keep it one inch (2 cm) away if I could. But it really depends on how hot the tube gets and what kind of airflow you will have when finished.

The 2.2uF MKP10 is 24x31.5mm (H x W) and the tube socket 10mm (H).
1" is a lot of surface when talking pcb but I guess it's better to have a big pcb than burnt out caps.

Default upside-down?

Does your layout allow you to mount the cap and the tube socket on the opposite sides of the board (cap from the bottom)?

I suppose it could be done even though I would like to avoid it if possible.

I decided to play it safe and follow your advice... Tube on the flipside.
