Fairly typical of Rogers amps of the period. They did some similar amps with EL84 and ECL86's, but not seen many with ECL83. Grey cells ageing so can't quite recall what they were called. likely to sound very nice but power limited to around 5 Watts.

Thanks for the info. I have struggled to find a good source of information on Rogers amps in general . Lots of nuggets here and there.

I think that it is part of the Minor Series so perhaps a cut-down cadet mk1 or Junior. I'm sure its just time till an afficianado reveals all.

The preamps tend to be over complex and drag the performance down.

You would have to do a circuit trace to establish that it was over complex. Often it is simply cured by bypassing the pentode preamp which gives to much gain for modern situations anyway.

I don't think Dhole is looking for a critique of the possible defects of the preamp but wants to know the model designations of the two pieces in the Rogers 1950s range.
The preamp looks exactly like the one I bought with a couple of the Rogers Junior (EL84 push-pull) amps and is basically a version of the Mullard pre-amp for their 5-10 amplifier with a Baxandall tone control circuit. In fact I built a separate power supply for the pre-amp and gave to a guitar-playing friend as a tone control.
But I've never seen the amp before. All I can suggest is a trawl through the online Gramophone archive where you may find a review of it.

Just had a look at Gramophone but there's nothing there. On the other hand Googling "Rogers ECL83" brings up some more photos of your amplifier and one website calls it a Rogers RD Cadet Minor but I don't know if that's true.
