I am not going to build this in the near futurembut I have some questions.
I have 2 opt LL9213,MrLundahls says it´s the same as LL1623,witch has 3 wiring options according to the data sheat http://www.lundahl.se/pdfs/datash/1620_3_7.pdf Wich one is to be prefered? And I wonder if this is a good driverstage: ![]() on the scema the designer says that 12BH7 is replaced by 6SN7. Or anyone have another stage please post. I have a big 220v trafo ,can this one be used for the 6C33 part? Last edited by Ryssen; 5th August 2011 at 06:28 PM. |

I did a "little" googling and that 220AC trafo is a little to much, wolud be better with 220V DC..

The 220V trafo is fine when using L-Input rectification which is always to be prefered because current peaks are much smaller.
The driver stage seems not too bad. But symmetry will be better with a CCS at the tail of these 12BH7/6SN7. Using a ECC88 as Katodyn is casting pearls before swine . You could use any tube here and use only one ECC88 for a stereo version. Futhermore you don't stress the U-fk aswell. here is another 6C33 PP: 6C33C - PP-Amp von Ernst Roessler paraphase and 6BL7 driver.

The OPT in the link is Raa600 does this mean i can use mine wire as 1,6K? |

It can and should be wired for 1.2K. (SE is 600R, so PP Class-A is 2 times that value) But 1.2K is minimum. Everything above will yield less distortion and should be prefered if you don't want a maximum of Power. Your 1.6K OPT is perfect. Just be sure that both tubes draw the same current. With fixed bias 6S33 can drift, especially when using new tubes. So be sure to check the current regularly. Non-gapped PP OPT's can saturate fast. The x0.9 factor is not kind of compulsory. When you connect a capacitor before the choke, it's value can determine the Voltage after the choke. With only 1µ I get about 190V from the simulation, with 50µ I get about 255V. (220V trafo, solid state bridge and 5H choke) Even these are far to expensive for a katodyn/concertina stage ![]() As you see, anode and cathode resistors have the same value which results in 100% negative feedback. The stage has no gain. It doesn't even need much power since it only need to drive the next driver stage and not the power stage. I'd try some 12AU7 or 12AT7 there (when we talk about noval tubes) or any other in that range like 6CG7,6SN7,6J5,12BH7 etc. The "sound" is mostly determined by the first stage (ECC88).

I did a simulation in PSU designer:
![]() I used CLC and 470uF and 2500uF as I have this at home. I loaded it with a CCS of 800mA,the trafo can deliver 0,9A. I got 203v,but that will be enough. I found this schema on the web,it uses a CCS for the driver tubes maybee I can copy the CCS? ![]() Edit:Maybee I should have the bigger cap first in the CLC? More questions...If I am going to run 0,8A through a choke is it enough if it can take 1A?
