Default 245 tubes

I have a question about mesh plate 245 tubes. I recently purchased a Rogers labelled 245 globe tube on ebay to match another Rogers tube I have. Upon arrival I noticed it was a mesh plate 245 tube, and not a flat black plate tube like the other. I believe the black plate is a philips made 245 globe labelled Rogers while the mesh plate, I have no idea about. Anyone here know the history of vintage mesh plate 245s? Are these hard to find?

Mesh plate 45s are hard to come by much less two equally matched for transconductance and made by the same manufacurer in the same construction. The best bet is to try to find a pair that test good out of the same old radio.

Your tubes may be too old to have an EIA code, but if there is a 3 or more number code on the tubes, they will tell you who made them. Usually the manufacurer's code is the first 3 numbers.
